Meta Rolls Out Muse Image, New AI Model for Content Creation

Meta has introduced Muse Image, a new artificial intelligence model that will be gradually integrated into its suite of applications. The tool is set to roll out across Meta AI, Instagram, and WhatsApp initially, with subsequent availability planned for Facebook and Messenger.
Muse Image is part of Meta's broader Muse family of models, which the company intends to prioritize over its existing Llama series as it develops next-generation artificial intelligence capabilities.
According to Alexander Wang, head of the Superintelligence Labs unit, Muse Image incorporates "agentic" capabilities that work in tandem with the Muse Spark model. This integration allows the system to comprehend user requests, conduct online searches, and strategize before generating images, thereby improving both accuracy and output quality.
The company is simultaneously developing Muse Video, a companion model for video generation. Wang noted that this video model demonstrates strong performance in following text instructions, producing high-quality imagery, and maintaining visual consistency across frames.
Among its distinctive features, Muse Image enables users to reference other Instagram accounts using the "@" symbol. This functionality allows the model to utilize public images from those accounts to generate visual representations of their owners in created content. Meta has emphasized that users maintain control over their public photos through privacy settings.
The image generation tool supports a range of creative applications, including converting images based on predefined templates, designing items such as invitation cards and postcards, and reimagining interior spaces using images from Facebook Marketplace or comparable sources.
Users can also directly edit generated images by drawing on them to add or remove elements, with results shareable through posts, stories, or direct messages within Meta's ecosystem.
Meta has announced that Muse Image will support 30 new artificial intelligence effects for Instagram Stories, with the rollout beginning in the United States before expanding globally and to other Meta platforms.
