Egyptian lawmakers have put forward legislation that would fundamentally reshape the institutional structure of the Egypt's Future Authority for Sustainable Development, converting it into an economic entity operating under direct presidential oversight.

The proposed measure seeks to equip the agency with expansive authority to manage state resources, including the ability for the president to transfer public lands and assets to its control. The law would also exempt the authority's operations from standard administrative regulations, government contracting procedures, and civil service wage requirements.

The draft legislation outlines the creation of two subsidiary funds under the authority's umbrella. The first, designated "Pyramids of the Nile," would focus on sovereign wealth investments, while the second fund would support social development financing initiatives. Additionally, the authority would gain the capacity to oversee special economic zones that benefit from preferential tax and customs treatment.

Officials framing the proposal emphasize that these structural changes are designed to enhance operational agility in managing national assets and creating a more attractive environment for investment capital. The initiative represents a key component of Egypt's broader economic restructuring agenda.

The draft law now awaits submission to the House of Representatives for consideration and debate.
